Envinate, Albahra 2023

Flag of Spain

Envínate (aka wine-yourself) is the brainchild of Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente, four friends who met while studying oenology at the University of Miguel Hernández in Alicante. They focus on exploring the ancient, Atlantic-influenced terruños of Ribeira Sacra, The Canary Islands and Almansa. Albahra 2023 is made from a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Moravia Agria, an ancient grape native to this particular corner of Castilla-La Mancha. The grapes were hand-harvested and aged for 8 months in concrete prior to release. The nose displays ripe red fruit, strawberry, violet floral notes and a clean minerality. On the palate there is bright acidity, good structure, body and power. The finish is long and highly enjoyable. A super interesting, unique wine and equally at home with game or BBQ.
